Christmas in July Day 4: 12 Days of Christmas!
Christmas in July Day 3:unwrap an inference!
Merry Day 3 of Christmas in July!
Today my Unwrap an Inference is half off! I LOVE these activities!
I made a Valentine version and am working on a few more! They are interactive and challenging!
Christmas in July Day 2: Holiday Daze!
today's deal goes rather perfectly with yesterday's!
This past winter I made holiday centers to mesh with our winter holiday unit.
I did not do everything as a class this past year, so I wanted what the other kiddos were doing to be related!
So here's Holiday Daze!
Christmas in July! Day one
Merry...uh, July 15?!
Join me and some sweet Blog Hoppin' friends for Christmas in July!
Feel free to come with sweat in all kinds of nooks and crannies, cause I know it's hot up in here!
Each day, ONE product will be on sale! To go directly to it-just click this picture in my store!
I like to start with the best...in my opinion anyhow!
I love this unit about as much as I loved winter holidays!
Our curriculum requires learning about different cultures and people from those cultures.
SO my grade level uses this little file!
Tons of crafts and holiday activities
The Scrapbook
Powerpoints and comparing activities for assessment!
I've posted a few times about how we do rotations and keep a scrapbook of sorts
which you can read about those here! and here!
and there may be a little update coming this fall...just sayin'!
the f word
Finished!!
I’m finished with the update on my Winter Holidays Scrapbook. Last year it was a whopping 10 pages! Now it is 86! Plus I finally get the power points TpT ready!
It only took 2 weeks and a pending divorce! I was pretty much married to this laptop! But I am oh so happy with the results!
Before
and after!
6 power points, 4 comparing activities
follow-up activities for each holiday, too! My favorite is the Christmas story comics! I can’t wait to see these!
and don’t forget the scrapbook! Full page and half size, color and b/w! It’s all up to you!
If you wanna see it in action-here’s last year’s post. We will do the research Friday and a holiday per day next week! Phew!
and you can get Scrapbook/activities only
Powerpoints only {if you’ve bought the other file already}-but go download the updated file!!!
or BUNDLE and save $3 big bucks!
even though I am benchmarking {which might as well be the B word!} my kids will be meeting our Elf on the Shelf tomorrow, working on Santa letters and using Reagan’s Techy Santa file, and lots from Amy and Hope, too! We are working on fact and opinion and that Baby face Santa is too cute and perfect!!
the new kid and celery
no
our new kid doesn’t smell like celery!
but with only 33 days left! eek!
well, right in time for end of year benchmarking! yay!
my students will latch on to a new kid like a new toy
he is the prey to their predator
first day the vie for his attention
the girls compete over who will be his read with someone partner
they offer to get anything he needs
hope it keeps up…
celery
last year was my first year in “lower grades”
keeping up with cute craft demands was a must
no holidays was to be overlooked
in 4th grade I may have mentioned Christmas and …well, Christmas
maybe some Halloween since it’s my fav
so here comes Mother’s Day out of nowhere in May last year
I ventured onto my go-to craft site Kaboose
not so much NEW and EXCITING
On to Google and viola!
Painting with celery! yes!
The stalk cut right after they begin to separate makes gorgeous roses. Idea for roses from Whimsy Girl http://whimsy-girl.blogspot.com/2008/09/celery-painting-tutorial.html
And cut individuals make little C’s . Idea for Hyacinths from Preschool-Daze http://preschool-daze.com/2012/04/03/e-is-for-easter-flowers-aka-grape-hyacinths/
We also made bath beads with Epsom Salt, oil of essence, and we also used food coloring. {I kept waiting for moms to say their bath water or skin was dyed, but no one did!} Then we gave the kids a large index card to decorate, and fold over a snack size baggie.
Don't forget my 31 giftcard giveaway! Click the picture for details! Happy Weekend!
Spring Break yet?!
Alas, no.
We still have school tomorrow
but then off for 10 days
so I guess that’s good
The great thing is everyone is being so sweet and well-behaved
Did you know today was National Tell a Lie Day?
cause that was a lie
Out of 21 kids, maybe 5 aren’t on the frazzled nerve I have left at this point
I am trying to fill our days with fun things, but they keep ruining it…{insert whiny voice}
Anywho
Today we FINALLY began our expert posters
I say finally because they have been bugging asking about them constantly since I mentioned them last week!
But it’s good they’re excited
We began with our Text Features Guru booklets
I love these so much better than last year’s!
I have been using my editions of Scholastic News we had saved after reading or had not read yet
They are perfect and I didn’t have to drag out the old magazines!
I didn’t get any stinking pictures of our posters in progress today, but I will!
We are also reading the Knuffle Bunny books
After reading the first book I pulled out my baby blanket {yes, it really is, I keep it at school where it is safe from Mr. Cleany pants at home} I told them the tale of Rascal the dog next door who stole it from the yard when I was a wee thing and ran off with it. Of how I got it back, but it was all messed up. Of how it is 30 years old and getting ratty. Of how soft it is. Oh man, they were sticking their little noses in it so hard I thought they might inhale it!
This lead to the lost toy stories
These came from Hope King's unit {one of the BEST things I have ever bought on TpT btw}
I remember this one’s ne-ne {paci} from when I taught her sister and do you see the reward for Piplup!
At to end our day today we had our Easter Egg Math Hunt
I just knew they would love it
I just knew we would work together and leave their problems behind
I was just wrong
they loved the egg hunt
they found the eggs the 4th graders hid for us in the courtyard
they refuse to get along
they can’t work together
but after some sweet persuasion from the teacher, we got the task completed!
If you are interested, I have this little activity on TpT and TN. It’s so easy in fact, my 3 year old helped me do it last night!
”get in there little booger…get in jail…”{precious!}
and here’s to getting dirty…guess who didn’t want to get their hands in the shaving cream?? BOYS!
We will finish up these eggs tomorrow! I am still working out the kinks. Definitely not as easy as the tutorial made it seem! never is!
I will share this Pinspired project tomorrow!
