Monday Made It: easy peasy silhouettes

I'm linking up with Tara for my first Made it Monday of the summer!

These are our silhouettes displayed for Leadership Day. I actually took their profile pictures on the first week of school intending to make these and never got around to it! They are the most precious things ever!
oops! I think I deleted my pictures! ah!

Everyone added I am a Leader  to their papers since this was a Leader in Me project, but you could add names or anything else for that matter! We typed all of the roles we play in Microsoft Word and printed them. I had them add a border around each word as well to give them something to cut! Then we colored each one and cut them out, glued around our silhouette, laminated, and wa-la! Next year I will do this earlier and leave them displayed all year long.

using up your scholastic magazines (giveaway)

I have a huge stack of scholastic magazines in my room....I hope I'm not alone! Best intentions, right! Well, I find all sorts of ways to use up the ones that do not exactly fit what I teach.
First, the text features project!
Love this one!
This packet can be used in two ways:
1. Have students create text features in the minibook for a topic of their choice OR
2. Have students find examples from student magazines and old mags to glue in the minibook (aka use up those magazines!!)

File includes half page sized booklet to save on copies.
Contents include a page for:
Captions
bold print
bullets
comparisons
diagrams
glossary
graph
headings
illustrations
maps
tables
titles
subheadings
icons
electronic menus
hyperlinks
photographs
table of contents
index
pronuncian guides
magnification or close up
side bars/text boxes

Also includes example "expert Poster" project with any nonfiction book
nonfiction newspaper template for alternate project
text feature and purpose response sheet
rubric for scoring posters

these are like my most favoritist projects EVER!
their talents really shine!
and I also JUST POSTED what we did this week to review verbs!

easy peasy! I also included a template with all the pieces all put together if you're just not that into cutting these days! We searched for verbs in our scholastic magazine, highlighted them after we read, then cut them out for the fireflies. You could also just write them in. Then they list others on the recording sheet.
Like I said-
easy!
these are both in my shop, but you could win them too!
just tell me...
What do you do with your extra magazines?

monday made it {instagram style} and more common core

So we take all these cute pictures and put them on Instagram to share with the world...then what? About a year ago I saw a site called insta.print. So cute....so expensive! and I am not even sure it's still around.
Then for father's day I wanted to do a poster of each of the boys at baseball games for Mr. Lamb. I went to walgreens.com and lo and behold...I saw this!
instagram + kevin and amanda font=love!
and here's what I ended up with!
It still needs some more pictures {which I just ordered-see below!} and I think some lace or ribbon and definitely a little bunting, but it is pouring rain and I like it just fine for now!!

so here's the 411 and I am sure a tutorial is not at all necessary, but they sure are pretty!

and here's the frame directions.

I chose an unfinished frame {Hobby Lobby} without glass for $39 minus 40% off coupon.
Scrapbook clothespins {Hobby Lobby} I fully intended to go through the ordeal of glittering and papering myself, until I saw these things! I got two different packs that matched my home.
plus my Instagram prints {$2.73}
mauve-ish colored wire {Hobby Lobby in the jewelry aisle} they have lots of colors and thicknesses.
{$1.99} I only used one spool and the frame is 18x20
thumb tacks {free from my desk drawer}

I pushed in the tack in the top corder and I wrapped the end of the wire around the base of the tack before pushing into the wood frame all the way. I just unraveled and zigzagged until I got the look I wanted. One part of the wire got twisted and has a kink in it, but I covered it with a picture!

ain't he a doll!?

I love the unfinished, scrappy look of it and the ease of changing out pictures to keep them current!

AND I did manage to squeeze out one TpT file that has been on my list thanks to Miss Tara!
click me to see

I finally got the 4th grade posters made. I will blog about how I use these later on, but my 2nd grade ones are best sellers {and newly updated and on sale!} and I'm pretty much in love with how this set turned out! If you follow Tara at all, you recognize these colors! And a Big Ol' thanks to Ashley for making the Tara paper pack!
I may venture and take color requests on these sets, but let's see how things go!
So go and link up with Tara now so I can spend more money and get more crafty!

Monday made it! Instagram button for your blog

It's Monday! I really don't mind Mondays in the summer! Here's today's Monday Made it!

See that adorbs instagram button on my sidebar? ------->
I used a camera doodle from sassy designs and my blog fonts to make a link to my instagram gallery

I'd seen lots of cute little icons and other buttons, but I wanted one to match my blog.
So now you can have one too

I made an editable powerpoint so you can adjust fonts and colors according to your needs
just download and get started designing.
Hopefully I took all the difficult steps out of the equation for you...

ask away if you have any questions

and as promised, here are the drawer labels from last week with blank labels. I was also asked for some other matching ones, but I'll have to work on that later!

I was hoping to be able to share more, but we are in the midst of All-Star baseball season with Middle Lamb, which around here means nightly practices and every weekend there is a tournament somewhere far, far away! But we have an awesome team so I love watching them play! Little D got to be the bat boy for the second game on Saturday. Let's just say he was a little overly enthusiastic and the umpire had to escort him off the field during a play! haha!

our little man

and after the excitement {and the third game!}

Oh yea, and we are still moving too!
We finally have all the painting finished...isn't my mother amazing! We went with fall tones which are my favorite

started with this

top left to right
the man den {brick house}, the breakfast nook {fall leaves}, the entry way {Rope}, and the girly living room {patina blue}

All the paint is Valspar Signature {except the entry way which is Rope from Eddie Bauer and I used it everywhere upstairs! Perfect gray!}
I will admit I'd be happy to never go to Lowe's again! We ended up going back almost everyday last week, and usually for more paint. We always start with just one gallon {esp since it's $32/gallon} because my mom can really use paint to the last drop! In fact, on Thursday I went FOUR times! ugh!

Now go link up with Tara so I can get even more ideas!
