Easter Freebies!

I'm posting over at Blog Hoppin' today and sharing my favorite Easter freebies!
PLUS, a new little endeavor, too!

Happy Spring friends!

5 for friday on friday!

Until today, I had a pretty easy peasy week
jury duty Monday and Tuesday
Wednesday work...
Thursday am meeting at the district office with the pm off
then today my kids had the day off

so here's a little randomness from my week as I link up with Kacey again!

I'd have more to show, but Wednesday was the only day with the kiddos and that was plenty!
I left Hope's rabbit research for them to work on all week.
Wednesday we had a little fiction fun with Easter Bunny Day!

bunny baskets!

5. I may be the only person alive who does not like Peeps, but I love making these!
We use dessert cups,
whip cream,
and supposed to have an egg candy or two,
but I lost them!
My only rule is that the recipe must be written in order to make it.
Two kids got to watch us make them.
Yes, I am that mean.

4. What's inside the Easter bunny's workshop?

these turned out so great!
I wish I could put pictures of all of them!
I love when they think outside the box!
If you like, this activity is part of my Down the Bunny Hole pack {on sale this weekend!}

3. Saturday was middle Lamb's 8th birthday.
As you can see he's a Harry Potter fan and likes to garden. He probably has the strangest interests for a kid his age, but I love that about him! He's very random like his mom! Those cupcakes were amazing-my friend Petie made them!

welcome spring...

1. My Spring Break is finally here y'all!
I might've had pretty much the whole week off, but it's official now!
I plan to craft, work on finishing up 3 packs {they are killing me!}, and NOT eat any chocolate or fries. I have not had either since Monday. This is huge. But I can do it! At least til my b0day in late April! And to celebrate, I'm having a Spring Cleaning sale this weekend!

signage curtsey of the amazing Krista Wallden!
So clean out those carts and wishlists!!

can't resist a cute bunny bottom! win one!

Oh, I had absolutely zero intentions of making an Easter file. I have been stuck on finishing my Determining Importance and Questioning files (I compile everything after I teach it, so it's all piling up!) Buuuut...I was drawing a little bunny for my little lamb

and it turned into this

I actually had an Easter Bunny Advice file I used last year,
but I was checking it out and realized I had left on an interview I had found online that (I was using the questions for an activity)
and while hilarious,
isn't child appropriate!
ekk!
So I took it off TpT and ended up adding it into this file. I even wrote a little poem for it too! And I finally got to use some new papers! yipee!
I told little lamb I was going to sell my pink bunny and he got all sad faced and asked that I not sell his! oh, sweet one!

So the first three who pin it will win it! just leave the link from your pin in the comment below!

And if you have been a follower for awhile, you may remember why I love me some bunny bottoms!
This is my mini-lop Wicket. He now lives with a student since we were a little worried little lamb would lead him to an early dimise. He's very happy, spoiled, and comes to visit every Easter! He always hid in the closet if we left it open!

My baby bunny Wicket came to visit our class Thursday! How I miss him so. They kiddos were super excited to see him again
you may remember he went to live with a student because I have a 3 year old who plays a little too rough with him at home
all fun! all happy happy joy joy
we’re off to visit class number 3…then
freak out!
IMG_0448
it was a little too much excitement for one day
I knew better
he tried to get away and got me instead
all down my chest and stomach
the best part is walking around for the rest of the day looking like it was one wild night the day before
but I still love him so

in other news
I didn’t get to half of what I wanted to accomplish this week
but it’s all good, there is always next year!
here is what we did get to enjoy

Jelly Bean Math

IMG_0433  IMG_0435

this turned out to be perfect for all my kids. I told them they couldn’t look at the jelly beans when choosing them to prevent all one color, but there is always somebody! we had fun and it was a nice break from plain ol’ regrouping practice. you can grab the freebie to use next year here

Bunny Tangrams

Using Lesson Plan SOS’s Some Bunny Knows Tangrams, we made bunnies with paper tangrams {among other animals in the book Grandfather Tang’s Story} as I read through the tale, I made the creatures from the book under the doc cam and they made them in the floor. then we all remade the bunny and decorated them. it also has a great explanation of the history of tangrams

Jelly Bean Science

I used hope king’s jelly bean experiment at the end of the day. they didn’t want to leave for block class! very eye opening. I am pretty sure I said “wow, that really gross” fifty times as I walked around eating them from the bag…

water, salt water, vinegar left to right. we also did baking soda and sprite, but I didn’t capture those!
you can actually see the Starburst logo in the next picture {and that’s just in water! ew}

Bunny Basket Snazzy Snack

cutest snack of the year by far! and so easy!
dessert cup, icing, edible easter grass {Target}, peeps, and easter egg candy {we added marshmallows I had leftover in the closet too}

Spring Break yet?!

Alas, no.
We still have school tomorrow
but then off for 10 days
so I guess that’s good

The great thing is everyone is being so sweet and well-behaved
Did you know today was National Tell a Lie Day?
cause that was a lie
Out of 21 kids, maybe 5 aren’t on the frazzled nerve I have left at this point

I am trying to fill our days with fun things, but they keep ruining it…{insert whiny voice}
Anywho
Today we FINALLY began our expert posters
I say finally because they have been bugging asking about them constantly since I mentioned them last week!
But it’s good they’re excited

We began with our Text Features Guru booklets
I love these so much better than last year’s!
I have been using my editions of Scholastic News we had saved after reading or had not read yet
They are perfect and I didn’t have to drag out the old magazines!

I didn’t get any stinking pictures of our posters in progress today, but I will!

We are also reading the Knuffle Bunny books
After reading the first book I pulled out my baby blanket {yes, it really is, I keep it at school where it is safe from Mr. Cleany pants at home} I told them the tale of Rascal the dog next door who stole it from the yard when I was a wee thing and ran off with it. Of how I got it back, but it was all messed up. Of how it is 30 years old and getting ratty. Of how soft it is. Oh man, they were sticking their little noses in it so hard I thought they might inhale it!
This lead to the lost toy stories
These came from Hope King's unit {one of the BEST things I have ever bought on TpT btw}

I remember this one’s ne-ne {paci} from when I taught her sister and do you see the reward for Piplup!

At to end our day today we had our Easter Egg Math Hunt
I just knew they would love it
I just knew we would work together and leave their problems behind
I was just wrong
they loved the egg hunt
they found the eggs the 4th graders hid for us in the courtyard
they refuse to get along
they can’t work together
but after some sweet persuasion from the teacher, we got the task completed!

IMG_0415  IMG_0422  IMG_0418
We can all get along!

IMG_0423  IMG_0424
and even dug up some worms!

If you are interested, I have this little activity on TpT and TN. It’s so easy in fact, my 3 year old helped me do it last night!
IMG_0407  IMG_0408
”get in there little booger…get in jail…”{precious!}

and here’s to getting dirty…guess who didn’t want to get their hands in the shaving cream?? BOYS!
We will finish up these eggs tomorrow! I am still working out the kinks. Definitely not as easy as the tutorial made it seem! never is!

IMG_0413I will share this Pinspired project tomorrow!

one more day!

53.8 pounds and an Easter Egg Hunt

First off, I am really tired of Lucky Charms switching up their marshmallows every single year-stick with what works people! That said, as we sorted yesterday using my little booklet, we had NO stars and did have shamrocks-so we improvised cause that's what teachers do and recorded shamrocks in the star column. Regardless-I adjusted the file on TpT
Second of all-they LOVED the pots of gold that greeted them Friday morning! Of course they wanted to keep the little pots, but …! It was just enough challenge to keep them thinking! Worked perfect!

Around mid-morning during some partner questioning practice we had a few teachers form another district come in and watch how we roll. I don’t know who told them Friday in my room would be good {or any day because we are pretty wacky!} but we entertained them nonetheless. And the quote of the day {we should really write these things down you know} was one of my kiddos saying his bones hurt, I responded that maybe he was growing {he’s pretty teenie} and he laughed and said “Hardly, I’ll weigh 53.8 pounds forever!” Geez! But like I said, we aim to entertain!
After lunch we made our Leprechaun Pie. It’s pistachio pudding and you can either take it or leave it {I’ll leave it} but it’s fun to watch them try new things each month.

This is was made for my former TA who helped me make snazzy snacks each month last year! I always send one down to her. Aren’t these precious!
I just uploaded an Easter Egg Math Hunt I did last year and loved! Student teams hunt for all their group’s eggs {assigned colors} and when they finish, they work together to solve the story problems. I just picked up some 12 packs of eggs at Dollar Tree with 6 different colors per pack. That’s perfect because I like having smaller teams so I’ll have 6! Check it out on TpT and Teacher’s Notebook
