pixels and powerpoint {a tutorial for making images for facebook tabs and TpT banners)

I don't know what a pixel is.
I measure in inches.
I barely understand the metric system!
But I wanted to make pretty banners for my tpt shop!
I wanted to make cute buttons for my Facebook page!
so I turned to the person I always turn to when I'm in need
Meet Google.
We go way back.
He's (or maybe yours is a she) can always answer my questions.
It actually annoys me if someone has a question and doesn't Google the answer!

Anywho,
After the Facebook hop this weekend I was determined to make a cute fan freebie button!
Now I'm going to show you how, too!
I'm sure there are much quicker and easier ways, but this is how I do it!

1. find out the size your image needs to be.This is for a TpT store, but this will work for anywhere!

2. Now you need to convert those sizes into something you can work with...like inches! (note that the numbers I entered are the required size for a facebook tab, not TpT)
I use this site because it was the first one that popped up! and it's straightforward!

see the image width and height at the bottom...in inches!

3. Now open Powerpoint, because it is the only program I can work with!
Ta-da!
Now your work space is the correct size.
Design it anyway you'd like and when you save it, be sure to "save as picture" not a pdf or slideshow! this means the extension will be .jpeg or .png. Whichever!
Now I have a sweet little button on my fan page that matches my blog!

Have fun!

  1. OMG! It's SO much easier to convert to inches and do everything in ppt. Why didn't I know this?! And HOW will I remember it for the next image I want to create?! Great post!
