Life lost and new life begins

This morning I had a message from our principal asking us to be at school for a morning staff meeting (unheard of) at 7:10 (I don't even leave before that) because she needed to tell us something personally.
At first I figured she was leaving, but her voice was sad and who'd do that at 7am?
Then I panicked thinking something happened to a student!
So middle lamb and I got there only a little late
Sad faces and teared streaked cheeks were all over
Our 38 year old assistant principal had suffered a massive heart attack early this morning and died.
Complete shock
No warnings
38!
Two babes at home
Big 6"4' teddy bear of a man
Star Wars freak
Space aficionado
We love you Mr. Danner!
I walked in the classroom still kinda shocked (I still am for that matter)
Middle Lamb heard peeps
In our incubator were 3 chicks
2 days early!

What a sign from God!

We told the kids...
They don't understand
Neither do I
We had our dreary rainy beach day
We watched another chick hatch
We loved on it
We made Darth Vader cards
We read Houdini was...

I just wanted share because frankly, you guys are like my colleagues and get the best and worst of the day to day
I hope your day was blessed
And I am sure many of you had some new life emerging as well!

  6. I am so sorry. We lost our VP one year suddenly. It was so hard for all of us. One thing we did to make her name live on is give an award to a student who had made a positive change during the year in her honor. She lives on still.

  13. I'm so sorry for your loss. The same (kinda) thing happened to us with our principal today. She called the staff together and announced that she is separating from her husband and will be out the rest of the week to move out. Eek..I hope you have a great week. Stay strong!

  21. I'm a little late to read this, but my prayers are with you. It's so hard to lose a co-worker, especially in the middle of the year. We lost a 3rd grade teacher just after Thanksgiving, and it was a very tough time (although she wasn't nearly as young). How neat to add the new life of the chicks on the same day, though!
