Before any other holiday learning, we had two days packed with Caribou! The first day we focused solely on fictional reindeer.
We made reindeer glyphs, watched Imogene’s Antlers via Reading Rainbow {love that Lamar!}, and made some primo antlers for ourselves, too! {courtesy Lesson Plan SOS ladies!}
Day 2 we began with a circle map of what they already knew about reindeer…let’s see, they have antlers, they have legs…that’s about it! We watched a quickie video on Discovery Education called Wild by Nature for Kids: Caribou. Students jotted down facts on their note taking form I snagged on Amy Lemon’s page {love her!} then we read a minibook from Teacher’s Clubhouse and this sheet I made to finish up our fact finding mission.
{supermodel caribou}
{and silly ones, too}
{not sure where his neck is…!}
{oh, my eyes!}
And…wait…yes…TWO more days for us! But of course I have plenty of loose ends to tie up! We have some grinchy activities to finish from Friday! Here’s a peek.
Students will be writing about things that make them feel grinchy and merry. {I CANNOT get that happy Grinch’s mouth right…errr…}
On Friday we highlighted similes and metaphors in the Grinch song, so tomorrow we will choose one to illustrate. Download the sheet here.
Love the math sentences! I sure wish I could draw! I'm totally jealous of yours.
