five for friday

it's five for friday time! I have come to look quite forward to it!

this week was just as crazy as the last, but we still gotta learn so here goes! I cannot even fathom that it's march!

I finally got around to verbs! I still they don't think have the hang of nouns and adjectives, but I know I retaught all the parts of speech in 4th grade too! I'll do whatever I can make them remember and be able to use them properly, so why not use sharks! We've been in the midst of Dental Health this month and our Scholastic News was about animal teeth with a big ol' shark on the cover! That definitely got their attention! Kids love sharks!

I used Amy Lemon's shark acrostic freebie and had them list verbs for sharks rather than adjectives. We'll also be using all these freebies too!

flashback 80s! This is pretty random, but this is where my kiddos who come in for breakfast hang their id badges since the room is locked up. The letters are removable stickers from Walmart's dollar section.

teenage humor...oldest Lamb has become a little obsessed with the periodic table lately. This is technically a picture from last week, but I forgot to share it. After he's comeback of "potassium" to my "k" please insert an eye roll.

and we are also reading lots about these folks from A Year of Many First's amazing pack! Here are a few that actually finished their work! imagine that! See that gorgeous chevron-wrapping paper! I've been hitting up TJ's!

and I could not be more proud this this paper! This child, oh! No words. But he wrote something that I can 1. READ and 2. Makes sense! wooo-hoooo!

We mushed it up all day today since the Iditarod sled dog race starts tomorrow and we will be all seuss-ified next week. I could not be more thrilled with their interest, my new pack, and the books I found at the book fair like Mush and Balto! I have sure missed teaching with the Iditarod!

The kids chose their mushers to follow, we read about the history of the race and all about Balto. Of course, they think the race honors just him, but we'll keep learning more and more throughout next week! I'll be sharing more later on!

I have been scouring blogs looking for some good stuff on verbs, but, wow! There is nothing to write home about. I have gone through my Google Reader a dozen times. I found a few things at my old faithful-Teacher’s Clubhouse, but they’ve not updated this section in awhile…We only have a three day week and we will spend much of it “catching up” on assessments since it’s the end of the semester, but I need to review verbs in a BIG way.

You know those places that you’ve riven past a thousand times, but never stopped? That’s here! I have always been enamored with this green horse…could it scream OZ anymore! oh, and that sign…he does like to be “mounted”!

     

The room was precious. And no false advertising! Jacuzzi IN ROOM..haha! I loved the footed tub! I miss this room bad as I sit here preparing for an 8 hour workshop with 120 people…no good!

And here’s some wonderfulness I saw from my teammie’s walls at school during our workday yesterday…sorry-they don’t turn on the lights in the hallways on workdays!
