Desk makeover

Another quickie, but cute enough to share.
Our desks at school are u.g.l.y. Painted black metal. Crappy drawer that won't open unless you slightly open the two side drawers. You get the picture.
I try to cute it up with posters or my mrs. Lamb letter magnets. But it was still ugly
Then pinterest {with its addicting little pins that nag at me until I do it} enters. And wha-la. A desk I can live with!
Here's before

and here’s after.
It was our last workday do what better was there to do!!
I used Duct tape for the whole project. I hope to do vertical stripes later on, but this is all I had time for between meetings
Solids: Neon yellow, neon green, teal, hot pink, purple, and blue
Prints: teal polka dot, paint spatter, Hello Kitty, pink zebra, and peace signs. I wanted to use a few new ones I’d seen, but this chic’s broke for a while! End of the year wipes me out!
Here’s the original Pin

and here’s a few more ideas. I swear I could have a duct tape projects board!
I would love to make these for school and home!
I have linked up with Tara's Monday Made it Linky! Too fun!

  4. Tara-I fully plan to! It was super easy and quick! And if other teachers have duct tape, you could all join in.
@Miss Nelson and Lisa-I blogged from the ballfield! Not recommended! I finished up the post when I got home-it's all duct tape

  9. Wow! What a creative idea. I got rid of my desk (which made yours look chic lol- mine was original to my school building, which was built in the 50's). I have an idea for using duct tape on one of my tables though.

  14. Okay, that duct tape desk/table WOW. Absolutely amazing. Love it. I take it you had to buy a lot of different styles of duct tape? If I still had a teacher's desk, I would totally do it!

    1. I actually have a little stockpile of duct tape. I use it on my board, line all my book shelves, and anything else I can find! I also borrowed from other teachers to have enough different patterns and get a few neon solids at big lots or Ollie's.

    1. I am still contemplating painting mine. I've seen some awesome ones and then put stripes on them with tape.
